The Terra Pants are up there in Montane’s signature pieces, and having read the reviews in a few different magazines we thought we’d give them the once over to see what they’re all about.
When Montane took us out for the day we tried out a few bits of kit and the Terra Pants were one of them. The pants are perfect for a day’s hike and from the moment you put them on you feel like you’re wearing a great bit of kit.
We tested them out on a fairly brisk and steep hike up Harrison’s Stickle – it was quite a warm day so breathability was needed which these pants naturally give, but what really came in handy in these conditions were the zippered mesh side vents, which can be opened to allow airflow in to prevent you overheating. There are also 2 zipped side pockets with the right hand one having an interior zipped pocket (perfect for keeping money handy, for that trip to the pub after a long hike). We really like the British Flag on one of them, a very nice touch displaying Montane’s heritage.

The darker patches on the knees are made from Cordura which reinforces the material to really extend the life of the pants. The grey part is made from a stretchy fabric called TACTEL which gives excellent movement when you need it the most.
The pants only weigh 330g... but are still incredibly durable, Montane claim that you can tow a car with them!! Montane, like anything they make, don’t skimp on the quality of material have used a tight weave of TACTEL and TEFLON which gives great wind and water resistance.
Around the ankles there are zips on the sides along with press stud buttons to give the desired fit around your boots.
I think my only criticism is there could be a map pocket, which is always useful on a day’s hike... but I suppose that’s being a bit picky.
These pants are in stock now and are available throughout the winter season.
