How to Get Mains Power into Your Tent

One of the most common questions we get asked at Blacks Outdoor is how do I get mains power into my tent. With camping season still in full swing we thought we would show you just how easy it is.

Powering Your Adventures

Giving your camping set up that all important boost is simple, all you need is a mobile mains unit. Most commercial family campsites will have an electric hook up on some or all of their pitch sites.

All you need to do is plug the end of your mains unit into the hook up and then place the other end with the sockets into your tent. You can now use or charge a number of electrical devices like your phone, lantern or GPS without any fuss.

The Eurohike Mains Kit is a great value, quick and easy way for you to plug your electrical devices into the campsite mains. It comes with a built-in RCD for safety and a circuit breaker which means if it becomes overloaded it won’t blow the supply for the whole campsite and knock off their electricity. Updated for this year its horizontal socket design makes plugging in so much easier.

Camping Abroad

Most sites in Europe will accept the same fitting that comes as standard on our Eurohike unit. Some older sites may need a continental adapter. Its best to check with your campsite before you travel.

Tent Access Point

Many of the family tents now available in the Blacks range come with a zipped entry point which allows the cable to be fed into the tent without having to keep your tent door slightly open. We suggest keeping the socket end off the groundsheet as tent floors can be damp. The Mains Kit can be hung using the simple hood or if you prefer simply placed on a table.
