I got this mat as a novice camper--it's an upgrade from a foam pad, which I found made my 30-year-old bones ache! This is very compact indeed, and very easy to personally puff up. It's also easy to release the air out once more, and I found it fit very easily once rolled up again into its own sleeve (which is, frankly, the most frustrating part sometimes of packing things away, when they somehow grow when you're not looking!). It is comfortable and was fine for my 5'8" height, though I often sleep a bit curled up. It might be a bit small for those with a taller frame.
Inflates/ deflates well. Not too heavy but quite big for pack size when wild camping. Has no R rating and have only ever used this on summer wild camps and wouldn’t use this on late autumn/ winter wild camps as would be too cold. I find I slip off this mat quite a lot but could be due to the material of my sleeping bag too.
No matter how long I leave the mat to inflate by itself it never really seems to go up much. But this is easily remedied with a few manual breaths and once this is done it's very comfortable and insulating. Did well down to -3C but wouldn't push it much further as if you're a side sleeper like me your hip bones might compress it a bit too much to stay warm on the pressure point.
Packs down small and quite lightweight.
Takes a little while to inflate but once it has, it is comfortable. Yet to use outside but don’t imagine having issues with it.
Bought this a year and used a few times. It takes ages to inflate and never seems to actually fully inflate. When you try to blow in air yourself it just comes straight back out. Super uncomfortable to sleep on and barely acts a cushion between you and the ground. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.
As I hoped it would be. Great
I was very sceptical that this would provide enough support but somehow it does. We've previously taken air beds that you have to pump up, but they don't provide very even support; these somehow do. Even though they're only maybe 3cm thick, when your body weight is spread across the mattress, it still keeps you off the hard floor. Surprisingly, even without adding extra air by blowing into the valve, it's firm enough to sleep on after five minutes auto-inflating! We'll continue using these in future, definitely.
Bought this in 2018 for a 2 month trip in South America and now I brag about it. It is super easy to inflate, whenever we camped I opened it out straight away as it self inflates for the most part just add a few extra blows before locking the air in and going to sleep. Didn't deflate when I went to sleep or woke up in the morning. Kept me warm from underneath, the other 2 I shared a tent with always said I slept like a baby and they woke up cold from their inflatable and roll matt. Camped for about 4 out of the 8 weeks up to evaluation of 4600m. Small and lightweight, would recommend
Right up there with my old seatosummit mat which costs nearly twice as much, yet even more packable. That said the materials feel a lot flimsier and you lose a good 20mm in thickness which is going to impact how soft you can leave this mat and therefore just how comfy! Just spotted in Millets (don't worry they are owned by blacks nowadays) £31 which snapped 1 up given it still feels like a nice mat. Haven't tried yet but had a little test on millets floor which didn't go down too well but more importantly I think it should be fine! Shall update for sure with some toxic comments if bad! HEHEHE
Goods as described. Light but not used yet so can’t say more.
Just what I wanted compact, great quality you would expect from berghaus and comfortable ideal for back packing and travelling light.
Can't comment on quality as not used it yet, but initially seems very good.
The mat is quite narrow and looking at other brands they all seem the same width, not sure how a larger person would manage on these mats as one turn and your off onto the cold ground.
Brought one last summer and so impressed with size, weight and performance for bikepacking I bought another for my son to join me.
