This is a great Gore-Tex jacket. Good to wear when hiking and works just as well for commuting. Typical reliable Berghaus quality
Excellent berghaus jacket. Quality exactly as expected.
Incredible value for money, purchased for a tough cold hike in Wales and far exceeded my expectations, comfortable, warm, perfect
The jacket is comfortable to walk in because of the gore-tex. It fits well and is a useful length. It keeps the wind out well and the high position of the collar helps keep your neck warm.
The hood seems large, but has draw strings so can be adjusted and a woollen hat could be worn under. The peek is not as adjustable as the previous jacket I had which was 25years old.
There is only one inside pocket. The previous jacket had two, one shallow which was handy for tickets etc.
The one criticism I have is the zip. As with the previous jacket it is long and does not take to being bent when you sit down. But the most awkward thing is the retention of the zip at the bottom. It will start undoing from the bottom or as with the last jacket it ripped the zipper from the fabric. The zip could be shorter and start above the waist. Perhaps it could be attached to a flap at the lower level to accommodate some movement?
Excellent jacket at a very competitive price with quick delivery
This is the third Berghaus jacket my husband has had all of a very similar design and all have been excellent quality and fit. The original one, which must now be over 20 years old, is still in use as a gardening jacket and although in a pretty decrepit condition, still keeps the rain out! Always been happy with Berghaus products.
Great waterproof jacket
My husband is very pleased with the jacket. He loves the long length.
It is very comfortable and looks good too.
I had my last Berghaus jacket for 22 years. I purchased this as a replacement due to one of the zips breaking. This coat seems to be of at least an equivalent quality. It is a good fit and fully wind and waterproof. Colour is also great. Blacks were offering this coat for £139 pounds compared to the full price of over £200. This represents fantastic value for a super Gortex coat. Hope it last me 20 years like the old one. Just to add one more thing Berghaus offer a repair service so my old coat has been sent off to have the zip repaired. What fantastic customer service and a bonus for the environment as another coat saved from going to land fill.
Much better jacket than the Maitland, which I bought in error a while ago...!
Bought to replace one 16 years old which was still waterproof but showing its age. Apart from the slightly shorter pockets this one is of the same quality and I am looking forward to another 16 years of wear both for hill walking and general use.
Bought this to replace an earlier Berghaus Cornice jacket that gave 15 years service. Pleased to note that the new one is just as good with a better hood and lining so an absolute no-brainer for me to recommend this jacket. Great girl hill walking, dog walking and smart enough for casual use at work or in the high street. Best value Goretex shell out there in my view.
Side pockets are smaller, material seems lighter. Surf about for a good price. Recent fleeces will fit but not 10 year old ones. No doubt will still leak in a downpour.
Very good jacket, warm with inner fleece, waterproof, great for all weather's thrown at you.
Well made, lightweight, wind and rainproof and breathable, in fact does everything it should do,
Excellent quality and comfortable
Having had a similar jacket before, it is pleasing that the quality of Berghaus, coupled with the Gore-Tex product, maintains the reliability and attributes expected from this sort of equipment.
Excellent all weather jacket, longer length keeps your whole body dry and snug and it has a map pocket that takes an OS map.
The good: Berghaus know a bit about build quality, they've been at it for decades, and Goretex fabric is tip top. It's a longer jacket, unlike many in the market these days, it covers up your chilly bits. The price, how can you beat it for the money?
The bad: Those hand warmer pockets, when the jacket is zipped closed that is not a natural position for your hands / arms to be in, and they're a bit on the small side.
The ugly: The roll away hood, they never seem to work on the hills. However, for a well priced all round compromise jacket also used for commuting, you could discount this.
