Above average comfort, below average traction

My first pair of Merrell, I bought them because they're vegan, apparently waterproof, and look stylish. I've only been wearing them a couple of days in wet conditions and thus far they've passed the waterproof test, and they're pretty comfy and very cushioned.
However, I noticed on first wearing that they're slippy on certain wet smooth surfaces and today I nearly had an accident and could've fallen down some wet stairs. I'm afraid the traction on these is poor and I shouldn't have to worry about this given the price of them. Would be buyers should take heed of this. So much for Vibran
