The MOAB 2 Mid GORE-TEX® Walking Boot features a breathable and waterproof GORE-TEX® membrane that is designed to keep your feet dry inside and out, whilst allowing air to escape so your feet can breathe. Assisted by the surable synthetic uppers that combine high-quality leather and mesh to provide a breathable upper that keeps the elements out.
Comfort and support was at the forefront when designing this walking boot. By integrating a Merrell M Select™ FIT.ECO+ blended EVA footbed with zonal arch and heel support as well as a molded nylon arch shank, your feet stay super comfortable and supported on every ascent, reducing the risk of injury.
The Vibram® TC5+ sole provides next level grip for confident fast strides on all terrains whilst the air cushion in the heel absorbs shock and ensures you stay stable.

Great in the dry, and even mud, but even after 30 pounds worth of Nik* products still wring out socks after a walk in wet grass in the rain. Other half's Scarpa are fine - but they don't fit (even in my size).
If we have a summer they'll be great.
After a short walk through wet grass both my feet are soaking wet. Not suitable for dog walking in the uk.
Bought these yesterday on the recommendation of the shop assistant. Wanted a decent pair of walking boots that wouldn't break the bank. Went for an hour walk this morning, some of it on wet grass, and both boots leaked. In fact the right one leaked so much my socks were soaked when I got back.
It is a shame because they are probably the most comfortable boots straight out of the box that I have worn.
These boots are very comfortable and work well to keep your feet dry! However, I used them hiking through Scafell Pike, England and they were terrible keeping grip on wet rocks. I recommend these for trail walking, but if you want a pair of mid height Merrill boots for mountain hiking, make sure to get the MOAB 2 gortex, with black soles. They grip much better on rocks and got me through Keragbolten, Norway without any issue.
Excellent walking boot especially with the Vibram inner. Used them in and around the Highlands of Scotland the boot performed excellently. Very comfortable. Price wise £99!!!! You can not go wrong.
Comfortable fit and good waterproofing.
ONLY HAD TWO SHORT WALKS (AND NONE IN DRENCHING CONDITIONS) BUT THEY ARE VERY COMFORTABLE
Purchased over a year ago. Excellent
Waterproof my main reason for buying them
Lightweight my second reason because I now do what I consider to be long walks (over 6 hours) and I'm not 21 anymore
Buy 1/2 size larger to ensure you can wear 2 pairs of socks
I used them extensively in Norway in Winter and they kept me warm and dry
Great service yet again from Blacks, treated myself & have to say these boots really are…..
Mother Of All Boots !!
Absolutely love these & would definitely recommend.
Great shoes just I would advise buying 1/2 size larger than required in order to wear thick walking socks
As comfortable as my slippers
Fantastic boots...This is my 2nd pair. 1st pair lasted for years until eventually they had seen better days. Hopefully these will last just as long if not longer.
I have nearly always bought Merrell Mens Moab 2 Mid Gore-Tex walking boots. Last year I tried another make of boots, never again. I have now gone back to wearing Merrells, Very comfortable and walk miles in them.
Comfortable, and I have well tested their waterproofness - fabulous.
Merrel is a good quality boot I’ve been using merrel for a long time since 2005 and this is my 6th pair now.
Sturdy and comfy. Wore it on a short hike. Can’t wait to test it out in a longer one in the mountain.
Best walking boots!!amazing.
I’ve had these about 5 weeks. So far they’ve done the Yorkshire 3 peaks (I wore them for that without straight out of the box, one small blister) and several other Yorkshire fells. Total of well over 50 miles of hills, boogy paths, streams, limestone paths etc and these have been very comfortable and kept my feel completely dry in sone unpleasant weather and ground conditions.
I went a size up, put in some extra cushion soles (to help my ropey knees) and a couple of pairs of socks and they are comfy for full days.
I’ve done three 6 hour plus walks so far and can’t fault them.
I’d highly recommend these boots. I normally need to buy size 13 and still struggle to get them on when new as I have a wide foot with an extra high instep, but these size 12 merrel’s are easy to put on and very comfortable right from the off. I needed strong boots to cope with the steep muddy trails while participating in field archery events. The main course is constantly up and down hill through heavy woods and is very slippery at the moment so I am using ice grips along with the boots, no change to comfort but It’s as if I’m superglued to the slope every step of the way.
I have had these boots about 1.5 years and done both 3 peaks challenges + various hard terrain hikes. They are comfy and have served me well, but my god they do not help keep water off your feet. I have had many tough works made even tougher by wet socks. My advice would be to get a pair of leather boots that you can wax, It is worth the extra penny.
