Meindl Men’s Respond GORE-TEX® Shoe

My Respond shoe purchased in September 2023 now has a detached sole (Feb 2025) so only gave me 17 months use - I expected better at this price. I'll take them back to Blacks but I'm not holding my breath on a replacement. At £130 a pair and normal use they should last longer and I want a refund or another pair

These are my go to every day walking shoes. The comfort is exceptional, they are waterproof and offer great traction. Meindl sizing has never changed, I can order same size every time.

The shoe itself is fantastic, this is my 2nd pair and the first lasted for over 2 years of 20-30k daily steps. Well worth the price tag.

I was aggravated to find that these shoes arrived with SECURITY TAGS on them! The card retail tags were also cut, and the tissue paper removed. I assume I received a pair that was previously on display, taken off the shelf, and chucked into the box without being checked or cared for.

Asking for help at a store would make me look EXTREMELY suspicious, so I spent almost an hour with now blunt scissors trying to remove the tag.

These are the second pair I have bought and the same issue has happened. Not waterproof. Rubber around the toe peels off very quickly and lets water in. Tread also wears down super quick. I wish I had read the reviews before foolishly buying a second pair. Having only worn Meindl walking shoes/boots for 15 years I am massively disappointed. I will be returning these to Blacks

I always like to do my research on anything before I buy but trying on is always the best option . I tried all of the top makes and was going to buy merrell, but the mendl respond caught my eye. From the second I put my foot in the shoe I knew I was going to buy them so comfortable..they are so strong in all the right places I'm amazed how a shoe so strong can be so light and comfortable! Literally straight out of the box climbed goatfell on Arran zero issues and the grip is superb. Think 1st day covered 25k plus steps over rough terrain they were fantastic, highly recommended!

I bought these in June to walk the dog on a nearby fell, for about 2 hours per day. I have not worn them in ver wet/muddy conditions preferring wellies or boots. With little wear the stitching on both toe caps has broken, although they still look like new.
I'll be taking them back, tomorrow 5/3/23, to Blacks, to either repair or replace them.
Disappointing - and they wern't cheap!

I purchased these shoes for my 2000km Hike to Rome and was very Happy with them .They were worn out after about 1800 km or so, but still held together ,even though the tread was gone. They are still under Warranty, but I can not possibly return them after what I put them through. I will be buying them again .Recommended.

Comfortable but became leaky after a couple of months.Replaced by manufacturer with another leaky pair. Not satisfactory if you want dry feet

Look good. Very comfortable & break in fast but do not buy if you need waterproof shoes. These ARE NOT WATERPROOF! Mine immediately were leaking from the right big toe area a lot & I’m very disappointed. These are my first meindls & I probably won’t buy again. Although not the most expensive shoe out there at £145 I’d expect a lot more than wet feet just from damp 3 inch high grass. Not impressed

I bought these for walking the dog doing 4 to 6 miles daily mainly off road about 18months ago. Nice comfy shoe but waterproofing failed after a few weeks, stitching near toe protector coming undone and letting water in and the sole is now parting from footbed. I've had cheaper brands that have lasted longer

This is the third pair I have bought- the most comfortable shoe ever. Not as hard wearing as I would like but comfort wins out

Only used on one walking weekend in Norwich so far but held up well enough that I'm very happy with my purchase - Lake District in December will be a proper test!! :)

Lovely comfy boots, reasonably waterproof and an easy wear with little or no running in. A relaxed fit so thick socks advised.

I have had 2 Pairs now and would not buy again as both pairs have stitching coming off and black rubber toe cap falling apart and leak. These are not excessively worn as have other shoes. I got another Pair as they were comfortable and thought I would not have the same problem again but build quality is poor as should not have these issues on shoes that are not that cheap to buy,
My advice is don't buy... they look good to start with but eventually they will show flaws

Comfortable and generally well made shoe but waterproof membrane has failed after six weeks of use. Because of this I will be unlikely to purchase again.

I am a big fan of this brand but my last pair were not waterproof and the stitching started to come away too making me wonder -has the previous quality standards slipped or have I just got a one bad pair ?? Tempted to give them the benefit of the doubt based on previous Meindl walking shoes.

Had a pair of these a few years ago then decided to try a different make. Big mistake. I have now gone back to my trusty Meindl. Well made & really comfortable

I carefully read the reviews on a number of makes - Merrell; Salomon; etc. before deciding on Meindl - (a) because I've had them before; (b) I find their sizing accurate (unlike Merrell's where you tend to need a half size larger); and (c) they are a wide fitting.

This is my 3rd pair of these shoes in 5 years.They're just right for my feet but the soles wear out a bit too quickly.I keep an eye out for discount offers and then buy a pair, so these will get used properly later this year.
