Comfortable but NOT waterproof
Wet feet every day!
I had a pair of these for years and was very happy with them and my feet were always dry. They eventually split on the sole but after many years of walking. I bought another pair in 2020 in blue and quite quickly the rubber toe started coming away from the fabric so I took them back to Blacks last May for a replacement pair. The replacement pair are just not waterproof. Just walking in wet grass and my feet and socks are very wet. I notice from the reviews that all the ones since 2020 have the same problem. Do Berghaus see these reviews because there is a definite problem here.

Very comfortable, recommended off sales assistant as I had wide feet, had them for two years and have to avoid puddles. Will be making sure I ask for waterproof next time
Not waterproof
I’ve had a pair of these boots for two years now. I’ve found them light weight and extremely comfortable to wear. I bought them for summer walking and had worn them for several walks before it even rained. It was only then that I found that even walking through wet grass I was getting wet feet. Now, two summers later, with only a moderate amount of use the upper is partially split from the sole - I’ve never had a pair of boots do this.
Thankfully I bought these at a reduced price during a sale. I’d had been extremely disappointed if I’d have paid full price. I’d advise not buying these
Not durable
I bought a pair of these boots in September 2020 and I was initially very happy with them. They were a very good fit, comfortable and light. After 5-6 months, however, they started to leak in the toe area and so I would always return from a walk with damp or wet socks - even if it was not wet weather. On examining my boots, I discovered splits in the boots in the toe crease and quite a sizeable hole in the fabric. As I have only used the boots for walks on very easy terrain, these issues cannot be attributed to use in extreme conditions.
Ok but .....
I wear these a lot and have been really impressed with their comfort . I chose them and paid above my budget for the brand and the waterproofing .
They are sixteen months old and have been worn in woodland and beaches , no climbing or rough terrain .
The fabric at the front of the boot has split and I now get wet feet , not ideal .

Split after 5 months
I loved these boots as they were comfortable and had good soles, however be careful. My boots split / tore across the toe crease line on both feet after 5 months. May have been just my boots (unique fault?) but still, 5 months and then unwearable, that's not acceptable

I bought these lightweight mid boots early in 2023 as I have an achillies problem. They have become quite comfortable. But they have NEVER been waterproof, despite the description still saying they are TOTALLY WATERPROOF. I have waterproofed them several times, which improves things for a few outings, then they become just as bad. The fabric actually seems to act like a sponge, absorbing the water rather than repelling it. As a result, they take ages to dry. Definitely not fit for purpose. Very disappointed in Berghaus
