Firstly, the Crusade boots have a supportive PU midsole and an Ortholite insole that absorb impact as you manoeuvre over rocky terrain. They also boast memory foam ankle collars that provide superior support and comfort on long hikes with varying ground conditions.

James: “Once I started hiking, the first thing I noticed about the OEX Crusade’s was how comfy they are. The boots are stiff enough to support your ankle all day, but also have a nice amount of flex to help over rougher terrain".

Are OEX Crusade Boots waterproof?

James: “Stac Pollaidh has a lot of mixed terrain, but the first thing I encountered was bog. The boots feature eVent Membrane & are fully waterproof. This was put to the test straight away. The boots handled the conditions well and my feet stayed dry all day long.”

Do OEX Crusade Boots have a good grip?

The soles have a multi-directional lug design with 5mm lugs at the front and 7mm at the heel, which is engineered to provide an optimal balance of traction and durability.

James: “As I got further up the mountain, I had to pass some large stone steps and gravel. The boots gave me confidence due to the sticky Vibram sole. I found the grip was good over multiple types of terrain.

How stiff are the soles on OEX Crusade Boots?

James: “They are the first pair of boots I have had that didn’t require breaking in. The laces pass through a gripper at the top which keeps the laces tight whilst tying. This means that they don’t loosen over time which improves overall comfort.”

The OEX Crusade Boots are primarily designed for walking, hiking and backpacking. Their impressive levels of comfort make them suitable for all-day use while the grip and waterproof performance make them a reliable pair of boots for serious hikes.
