Not waterproof
2 out of 5

Had these boots for two years. They are not waterproof. They fail even in summer rain. I agree with other reviews, they fail around the bend at the front. They are very comfortable and they fit well. They appear well made. However when you buy waterproof gore tex boots, they should at least keep your feet dry, especially in the summer. Very disappointed. I maintain them and use altberg sprays etc. the lack of waterproofing is not down to poor maintenance, it’s not what you expect. I agree with the comments, only use when the conditions are dry.

Ii. Initially very pleased with these, very comfy
good grip and waterproof, however after 6 months of moderate wear they leak like no other can only be worn in the dry now, Wouldn’t buy Mammut again!

Leak after 18 months

Bought the boots 18 months ago, comfy from day one, however after 18 months these gortex boots now leak around the bend in the toe area, not what i expected from a brand that advertise on its heritage of quality.

Have just worn these boots every day for 8mile walks minimum for a week in the lake district in lashing rain, flooded streams, boggy hills and not one leak. Really comfy. Longevity unknown but so far so good.

Wore these boot for a couple of weeks around work before taking them to the hills of Yorkshire. Did the Yorkshire three peaks but 6 miles in my feet were killing me having to take my boots off to air them was like this all the way round. Finishing the route with sore feet and blister on both heels. I get issued altberg boots in the army and never had this problem lesson learned.

Excellent

I have only had these boots a few days so cannot comment on how these stand up to general wear and tear. However, I have been very impressed by how comfortable these boots were straight out of the box. It appears that there will be little to no 'wearing in' required. Also, the boots are very substantial but do not seem clunky or cumbersome, which is especially good when on rocky terrain.

The only thing that I did not expect was how high the boots come up on the leg. Having worn mid boots for the last 4 years, this is something I will have to used to but will likely prove beneficial.
