These jackets are perfect for spring as the mornings start off cold and heat up by afternoon. For winter, we also stock waterproof insulated coats, with comfortable padding for extra warmth.

What makes a jacket waterproof?

There are a variety of ways in which a jacket can become waterproof.

  • Durable Water Repellent finish - this water repellent coating wicks away moisture for protection in wet weather
  • GORE-TEX - a fully waterproof yet breathable fabric that repels water
  • Sealed seams - although not a fabric technology and of course not fully waterproof, this is a technique that is used to improve waterproofing protection.

Summer Vs Winter Waterproofs – What should I be looking for?

During winter time your waterproof needs to not only improve protection but enhance insulation when facing a colder climate. Therefore, you should look out for 3-in-1 zip waterproof coats with zip-in-fleece layers and a higher Hydrostatic Head rating (the measure of how much water pressure a fabric can withstand before it leaks).

In summertime, the best option is to choose a fabric that is not only waterproof but breathable too! In the hottest climates, water repellent coatings can wick away moisture whilst reducing core temperature.

How To Wash A Waterproof Jacket?

  1. If the coat is dirty/muddy wait until the coat is dry and brush off any loose mud or dirt.
  2. Wash the coat on the correct temperature (please see clothing label) using the NikWax Tech Wash in the washing machine.
  3. Hang to air dry.
