Introducing...Hi Tec

Established in 1974 due to founder Frank Van Wezel's love of squash and tennis, Hi-Tec were instrumental in the introduction of the first specialist Squash shoe, the Hi-Tec Squash.

From its base in the appropriately named Shoeburyness, Essex, the company subsequently became HI-TEC SPORTS PLC and have since sold more than 18 million pairs of this first shoe. The Hi-Tec Squash remains Britain's all-time bestselling sports shoe model to this day.

Hi-Tec's involvement in the outdoor footwear market came after Frank Van Wezel met an American, Duke Jones, who encouraged Van Wezel to allow him to develop a lightweight, low-cut hiking shoe. This hiking shoe, the Sierra Sneaker was launched in 1976 and Hi-Tec laid claim to being the first manufacturer of a lightweight hiking shoe and hiking boots.

By the end of the 1990s, Hi-Tec Sports was a truly global, successful brand and company. Today, there are over 500 Hi-Tec styles being sold throughout 80 countries world-wide, under the Hi-Tec Outdoor, Hi-Tec Court, Hi-Tec Golf, Hi-Tec Sport, Urban collections and Magnum brands.

Hi-Tec are passionate about footwear and through Blacks sell shoes and boots for walking, hiking, trail use, apres-ski, snow and everyday casual wear. We are Hi-Tec. We are Inspired by Life!
