Ellie’s love of the great outdoors started when she caught the running bug. It took her out of the urban jungle of London and into the hills, mountains and mud paths of rural Uganda, where she set up the international Running the Rift Marathon, now in its third year. In 2016, looking for an adventure a little closer to home, she set off with her fiancé on a six-month cycle tour from the UK to Greece, with a quick stop by a Slovenian lake to get hitched!

Just four months later Ellie found herself very unexpectedly in intensive care and at the top of the Super Urgent Liver Transplant List with less than 48 hours left to live. Thankfully a donor organ was found and Ellie was running at the British Transplant Games and winning medals less than six months later. Almost two years on from her transplant Ellie now lives in the Welsh countryside, is a proud ambassador for Blacks, and is expecting her first baby! She can’t wait to introduce the little newcomer to a wonderful world of forests, mountains, and adventures!
