I bought these very comfortable boots in store and after 3 days went for a 5 mile walk in the rain. One foot got very wet very quickly. I took the boots back and exchanged them for a new pair. Yesterday I wore the new boots for the first time in wet conditions. This time both feet were wet within 20 minutes. So wet I had to squeeze out my socks when I got back to the car. Very disappointed given how comfortable they are. I will be taking them back this week and trying a different make.
I usually buy boots from Scarpa, Berghaus etc but I thought I'd give OEX a try having bought a pair of OEX trousers and been very impressed. Really pleased with the boots. Very comfortable, waterproof lining, Vibram sole and very well put together. I'm not saying they're better than Scarpa, Berghaus etc but they represent excellent value for money. Just a word of warning on size. I'm a size 9 boot but I bought size 8 and they're comfortable. I wouldn't buy them off the internet. Go to Go Outdoors or Blacks and try a pair on before buying.
IBought these, as my North Ridge walking boots succumbed to wet weather and standing water on a brutal hike from Zennor to St Ives. First impressions were that these boots are a bit heavy. I wore them without insoles for a 12 mile walk that was very muddy, and where there was standing water. I was impressed with the grip, and not once did i experience discomfort when walking on sharp stones. However, when i got home, i did notice that there was a small wet patch on the tips of my walking socks. I don't know whether that was caused by my feet sweating a bit, or water ingress. Waterproof????
