Rubbish

Purchased 3 months ago only for walks with the dog. The boots were already letting in water & beginning to come away at the sole of the boot.
Have had Merrell before & never had any issues but really disappointed with these boots.

Disappointing boots & customer service

Boots are less than 6 months old and have developed a noisy clicking sound as if something is loose. This is very annoying and obvious whilst walking in quiet rural areas. As these are not cheap and are a well known brand, I would expect better quality. Furthermore, contacted Customer Service which pinged back a message to say they would respond shortly - still waiting!

Absolutely horrendous. DO NOT BUY.

Shoes are not 100% water proof. However, the main issue is based around the severally poor construction of the heel. Even after the typical “breaking in” period, the boots constantly gave me blisters. This due to the lack of, better yet NO padding around the heel and stiff plastic. Overall, DO NOT BUY. Utter waste of £90 after minimal use.

Terrible value for money

Bought these with high expectations. Had them for approx 3 months with seriously minimal use until over Christmas. Right boot was definitely not waterproof and water poured in around the toe area. Credit to Black's though as I returned them to be tested and they issued a refund. They weren't the comfiest boot I've had - especially for the price and the build quality seriously lacking. Great looking boot but for £140 they're far from adequate

Badly made, not waterproof, falling apart after 6 months

I brought these walking boots online in may 2020. Fine for 6 months but then started getting wet feet. On closer inspection I found the upper boot was split and detaching from the sole. They seem to be hanging on by just the liner. I only use these for walking a hour everyday along lanes and footpaths. The boots are useless and not worth the money. I have contacted Blacks.

Comfortable but not waterproof

Purchased two pairs over the last 12 months, for my wife and I. The fit has been great for both pairs and they have been comfortable from first wear. However, they aren't particularly waterproof, even with regular coating of a good quality proofing spray. In summary, great for dry weather walking, but in wet weather a more substantial boot is required.

Really comfy shoes, but not durable

I bought these boxing day last year (dec 2019), occasionally used them until lockdown where I basically use them during the winter months whilst walking the dog around our village and surrounding countryside, so not particularly over used. I did have the familiar noise that other people have posted about, but after I broke them in, I had no issue and they are extremely comfortable and the grip has been good throughout. Unfortunately in the last month, even when re waterproofing the gortex and boots my feet were getting wet walking through wet vegetation, so was a little disappointed. Unfortunately it appears the source on my right hand boot where I was getting wet the most was due to a worn seam that has lead to a split in the boot over the weekend... I am extremely disappointed that these have not really lasted a year of even moderate use from September time after paying around £100 for them, I was hoping to have at least a few years use out of them, like my previous pairs and my numerous pairs of shoes I have which seem to have lasted years.

Beware the size

I have had Merrell boots for many years and are my - 'go to' brand along with Meindl. My usual size is 9 but I had to send the Accentor back as they were too small especially the width. In the process of going for a size 10 so 'Caveat emptor' - buyer beware.

Blisters

I’ve had 3 varieties of Merrell Moab2 shoes/ boots in the past (size 10), and they fitted me well, slightly big, needing no breaking-in. For this boot I got size 9, my size for ordinary shoes, & they’re ok for length. But they are a lot narrower than the previous Merrells. They felt comfortable though, so I went for a 3-mile walk, returning with blisters on one heel & the joint of a toe. I found that there is a raised seam with hard thread up the back of one boot (quality control?). If I were to buy this boot again I would get a larger size (10s again) and use them with thick socks.

Good value value & performance

The boot fits well and didn't need breaking into. I wore them the next day on a long 5 hour hike. My feet were fine and the boots performed very well on the wet hills. Good support and grip when you need it. If you want lightweight and non-clunky boots, these are perfect. I've not brought Merrell before, but I'm warming to them as a brand.

Satisfied with this purchase

Always gone for Merrells - they fit like slippers straight out of the box with no breaking in required EXCEPT - this time, after wearing them for a days travelling with only a small amount of footwork required, I got a blister on my right heel where they had started to rub. Investigation revealed a very slightly raised seam at that point. Compeed applied and no further problems, but I hope this isn't indicative of falling standards. I have not yet tried the second pair purchased at the same time, but will be more cautious with them. So, four stars instead of five. If the other pair rub as well, I reckon we're down to three - time will tell.

Very narrow boot, very tight fitting, no information to inform the customer

Merrell boots are just so comfortable, no need to be broken in, and great quality, be careful when purchasing Merrell footware as they are American you need to buy a size bigger,, if you wear 9 buy a 10, this is my 7th pair of Merrells

Very comfortable light weight boots

Nice looking boots and very comfortable. The design of the sole (marrow) at heel feels a little strange at first but you soon adjust. The sizing of the boots was perfect for me (mostly wearing a thin sock), however if you prefer a thick sock or wearing 2 pairs go for a size up. Not been out for an extended period in the wet but walked through plenty wet grass with the dog and my feet are bone dry.
