Baltra Trek Boots
Nice boot but very narrow fit
Feels like a decent boot but maybe Berghaus are going for a narrow fit these days. The size 12 in this boot is the same length but narrower than a size 10.5 Salomon GTX boot about 4 years old (and that's not a dedicated wide fitting boot that I recall).
So unfortunately not for me.
Maybe boots need to be made in a length/width size (like trousers) rather than a single size.

A strong sturdy walking...
A strong sturdy walking boot suitable for all terrains. Comfortable fit and waterproof.
Not waterproof in toes (original and replacement pair)
Bought these expecting good quality given the brand/price. The first pair gave me wet patches on my toes just walking 30 minutes along pavement through town in the rain and through a couple of puddles. These were well defined wet marks and not just sweat. After returning (which was very easy with Blacks) the replacement gave me the exact same issue in the same spot. Once the waterproof outer coating fails (which will happen) its almost as if theres a gap in the goretex insert which lets water in. My partner (in her 3 year old budget own-brand waterproof walking boots) had completely dry feet.

Wore these out of box for 3 days running on 30 miles of the Southwest Coastal Path and they performed well. I have wide feet at toes and narrow at heel and these boots were surprisingly the ideal fit at one size bigger. Light weight and comfortable an ideal boot for changeable summer conditions. Weather's was generally dry but no water ingress from muddy puddles or occasional emersion in streams etc
still look as good as new.
