Training for the Costa Rica Coast to Coast Challenge

The Costa Rica Coast to Coast Challenge is one of the Prince's Trust's most extreme challenges, combining four disciplines – cycling, trekking, kayaking and rafting – for a combined total of 240km, 2350m climb and not forgetting the 40°C heat!

The Team

Training in Wales

teamONE headed to the Neath Valley in the heart of South Wales to complete the famous Afan Park Forest downhill tracks, throughout which most of the time was spent grinding uphill over numerous rocks, roots and fallen trees. After 8 hours of uphill pain and downhill joy, teamONE returned to Llandeilo in the Carmarthenshire Valley for a well-earned rest. The next day was spent trotting around a large reservoir; a hard, but enjoyable weekend away.

Training in Cornwall

teamONE then took their passports south of the Country to train at Tremough Campus, near Falmouth. The training consisted of an early gym session on Saturday morning following by kayaking on Sunday morning in atrocious conditions and then a final strength and conditioning session at the gym led by Andy Franco.
