teamONE Complete the Costa Rica Coast to Coast Challenge
Day One
teamONE started the race day in Queupos on the West Coast of Costa Rica with a calm 20km bike ride which was then followed by a 14km hike to Naranjillo - a nice and smooth start to the gruelling 7-day challenge.
Day Two
Day two was of a similar intensity to the former with a hike of 12km and a 16km bike ride to Santa Maria, with the race day interrupted by a 30 minute swim under a waterfall.
Day Three & Four
From there, day three to Orosi and then day four to Turrialtica consisted of a 45km and 60km cycle, respectively, and all the rumours circulating that it was going to be all uphill were true – these two days made up the bulk of the 2350m ascent.
Day Five
Day five was when the fun began with a 20 km down hill off-road bike race - with many people including including all members of teamONE falling off their bikes a couple of times! This was followed by a 7 km raft to El Nido.

Day Six
From El Nido, on day six, teamONE took the scenic route through one of Costa Rica’s rivers - grade 2 and 3 rafting rivers - 20km to Finca Pacuarito. The tour then ended in the sea!! With a 40km sea kayak tour from Finca Pacuarito to the Caribbean Coast.
Day Seven
The gala night was back in Orosi, at one of it's most beautiful hotels - the only day the team had to chill out. The whole experience then ended with 15 of the participants jumping into the hotel's swimming pool at 3am and staying there until 6am, soothing aching muscles while watching the sunrise over the jungle and the morning mist slowly flowing down the the top canopy of the jungle.
teamONE came second overall, missing out on first place by a few points - so not too dissapointed on the loss!
