Osprey consistently manufacture excellent backpacks for all kinds of uses, so it is no surprise that they have excelled when creating this mountain-ready rucksack. Developed based on extensive testing and feedback from the mountaineering world, the Mutant offers the perfect balance of strength and lightness whilst being loaded with technical features.
The 38 litre capacity is large enough for overnight trips but packs down small enough for daytime pursuits. However, if that isn't enough, a 'floating' lid allows you to increase the capacity to 48 litres, or alternatively you can shed the overall pack weight by removing the lid.
A Thermoformed EVA foam back panel offers ventilation while minimising moisture absorption for a lightweight, comfortable performance. The reverse wrap ErgoPull hip belt can be secured around the back of the pack to keep it out of the way whilst wearing a harness. The Mutant contains a removable 3-fold bivi pad for lightweight night time use or as a simple sitting mat.
This outstanding pack contains an extensive amount of storage features. The Z-Compresion is a removable, adjustable compression strap in the shape of a Z. It is ideal for storing sleeping mats, poles and skis. The Mutant also features hypalon racking loops, which allow you to attach a carabiner and store hookable gear in a non-intrusive but accessible position. The pack also features external lid pockets, a removable spindrift collar and axe loops with a Gorilla Grip patch.
Mountain-ready is an understatement. The Mutant 38L Backpack is perfect for alpine adventures, featuring a Thermoformed EVA back panel plus Z-Compression for loading, a reversible hip belt, racking loops and a 3-point haul system.
