Description

After leaving the village of Lumphanan, this walk takes the route of an18th century military road. It is now a green lane which leads through an avenue of mixed deciduous trees before reaching more open agricultural scenery. After following a usually quiet main road for a short distance the walk enters a piece of heather moorland where it starts to rise gently. As it rises some wonderful panoramic views of a large part of Aberdeenshire can be enjoyed. The walk then gradually descends along a grassy path and some open woodland before completing the descent. A short stretch along an unclassified road leads to farm tracks and finally a short stretch along the side of a stream, before returning back to the village.
